Tip of the week/ gear review.

String tone

We have all heard that a bigger string will have better tone.  This is true, but its a double edge sword.  It does you no good to play big strings when you cant handle them, or if it wont match your playing style.  I have OCD when it comes to strings.  I change them when they are dirty and from gig to gig.  I even play different gauge acoustic strings for an outdoor show rather than indoor.  The point is, you can get a lot of sounds out of a lot of strings and heavy is not always better.  Some of the time when im doing heavy strumming on an acoustic, I will use a light gauge string because I like to hear them flap around on and off the fingerboard. Take the time to listen to some other players, and research what they are using.  You will find some new things out about whats important to you and your tone.

Next gear review will be Tsunami cables and vox night train.  Keep an eye on this page to see whats next.
